Many of us are now familiar with how digital distribution has revolutionised music retailing, but has the marketing and promotion of music also been affected to the same degree? For many years launching an artist’s work depended on a Radio 1 play list, major TV appearance, or the front cover of a major music magazine – so what’s changed?

Scott Cohen and Sean Adams will be inviting your input and ideas, as they examine the components of a digital marketing strategy.

Scott Cohen

Scott Cohen is co-founder and International Vice President of The Orchard, the world’s largest digital distribution company. A recognized expert in new media, he has spent a significant amount of time, in recent years, speaking at conferences across the world. Scott began his career in the music business in the late '80s as an artist manager. In addition to his responsibilities at The Orchard, he also continues to manage The Raveonettes.

Sean Adams

Sean Adams founded the webzine Drowned in Sound in 2000, having previously set-up the email fanzine Last Resort. DiS is based on contributions from music writers on four continents. At its core is an integrated forum, which allows discussion, comment, news and reviews, from its contributors and 60,000 registered members.

DiS is partly owned by Silentway, Simply Red’s management company. In 2003, it set-up a record label, which to-date has been responsible for releases by Kaiser Chiefs, Brett Anderson, Bat for Lashes and Martha Wainwright, amongst others. Sean writes a regular column for Sunday Times Culture and remains editor of the website, which continues to pick up plaudits and award nominations, on a regular basis.
